Position Details
The chosen candidate will participate in the entire life cycle of software development, building scaleable multi-tiered web/client-server applications. With projects ranging from e-commerce and custom rewards systems to web-to-print solutions, this individual will have responsibilities ranging from developing interactive user interfaces, and system integration to complete application development, beginning with proof of concept and continuing through the delivery and maintenance cycle of the application. He/she must also be able to successfully manage multiple projects at the same time.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Interacting with functional users to understand their needs and what the application deliverables are
- Work with other developers and project stakeholders to determine optimal solution architecture, efficiency, maintainability and scalability
- Develop high-level system narratives and user interface prototypes
- Develop quality applications utilizing coding standards
- Demonstration of professional and positive attitude toward client contacts, account stakeholders and company personnel
- Interface and communicate effectively with both clients and end-users.
QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS) REQUIRED:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.
Technical Requirements:
- At least 2+ years of experience in Java, J2EE (JSP/Servlets, JDBC, JAAS, etc)
- At least 2+ years of experience in Jakarta Struts and MVC Frameworks, Hibernate, Tag Libraries, XML, XSLT, HTML, AJAX, CSS and Cross Browser JavaScripting
- At least 2+ years of strong Java interfacing experience with relational databases
- Experience with Java Application Servers & HTTP Servers
- Strong knowledge of Design Patterns and UML
- Strong Knowledge of designing with web standards
- Unix Shell Scripting
- Strong Data Modeling & Object design skills.
- Strong Knowledge of the Eclipse IDE
- Strong Knowledge of BIRT and Crystal Reports Reporting Tools
- Experience with PHP 5+ is a plus
- Experience with JQuery is a plus
- Familiarity with source code versioning systems CVS & SVN
- Experience with e-commerce payment gateways is a plus
Non-technical Requirements:
- Effectively document technical requirements and convert them into technical design
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm
- Effectively present ideas, expectations and information in a concise and well-organized way
- Manage time well and be able to correctly prioritize tasks
Additional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
